In February, the Berlin Film Festival -or the Berlinales- took place. I love everything related to the film industry so I didn’t hesitate one second and went to the opening ceremony, in the hope of finding useful information about the festival program and to attend a glamourous event. I had never been to such an important and fancy event before. So I went to the Marlene Dietrich Palace, near Potsdamer Platz to catch a glimpse of celebrities stepping off their Audi-taxi onto the red carpet. I saw a bunch of international stars that day: Richard Gere, Stanley Tucci, Cécile de France, Clémence Poesy, Geoffrey Rush, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Diego Luna, Heike Makatsch and I’m probably forgetting plenty. I thought it was very interesting to witness such an event but when I saw all those people stuck behind Nadar barriers, who had probably been waiting there for hours to see their favorite actor or actress, I realized I really could not do that. Man, three or four hours standing outside, in Berlin, in February, you’ve got to be really motivated. It was around minus 5 and 0 degrees outside. Anyways, I took a quick look at that famous red carpet behind a cheering crowd, took a couple of pictures then I went looking for more information about the festival program. I was foolishly hoping that I could come and buy my ticket half an hour before the movie started. But no. No, no. That is not how this works. Apparently, I should have bought my tickets online weeks in advance and unsurprisingly, it was all sold out. Well, at least, I’ll know for next time. In the meantime I heard about a parallel movie festival in Berlin, called “The Boddinales”, which seemed interesting! I decide to find out more on the Internet and I visited it the next day! |
